The 'Bambini' Classroom

3 - 6 years

Bambini Philosophy

Children's inherent love of learning is encouraged by allowing them to be spontaneous and engage in meaningful activities under the guidance of passionate, qualified teachers.
The wide range of children’s interests, abilities, and learning styles are identified, catered for and celebrated.

Independance

Our Montessori classroom provides a prepared environment where children naturally choose to play and learn. Our focus is on creating independence, with a love of learning. Acquiring a love of learning and learning how to learn is our goal. Children have daily opportunities to learn practical life skills which enables concentration, independence, and care for their environment, themselves, and others in their community. Montessori is a way of being, preparing children for life.

Practical Life Skills Cooking

Every morning the children make morning tea. There is so much incredibly valuable learning that is achieved through the process of cooking. While a teacher is always present to offer guidance, it is the children who lead the process.
The children have great pride in taking responsibility for tidying up when the baking or cooking is complete.

Expressing Feelings Through Art

Art is one of the many ways children express themselves. Art is a way for children to communicate their feelings. It is through art that children develop their fine motor skills. In the Montessori environment, we provide open-ended art activities that help children explore and use their creativity.

Natural Enviroment

A rich natural environment inspires curiosity, connecting children to the wonderment of the natural world and supporting opportunities for calculated risk-taking.

Importance of drawing, painting and writing.

Pre-writing skills help your child build finger strength, eye-hand coordination, wrist movement and grip strength. These will in turn help children to gradually hold and use a pencil or any writing tool to draw, write, colour and in general, express themselves.

Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

"If we try to think back to the dim and distant past... what is it that helps us reconstruct those times, and to picture the lives of those who lived in them? It is their art... It is thanks to the hand, the companion of the mind, that civilization has arisen."

Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create
